xantia gearbox..
hi,looks like my droning /whining is finaldrive.bugger..anyway got nice new wheelbearings in front now!!.still suprised its gone at such an early age.anyway any advise on changeing the gearbox,im confident on doing it, got a box on the way,anyone else done one??cheers hope to here soon..

What is the clutch like, if its heavy in operation or allready seen long service it may be wise to replace it at the same time, also check the crankshaft rear oil seal is still good.
Don't forget the front of the car needs to be high enough to allow the transmission to be removed from underneath.
The gearbox end of the engine has to be supported as the box is removed and lowered, better to do both these with support from above rather than perform a double balancing act on trolley jacks.
Remember to have fresh gearbox oil ready to go back in and if you do the clutch you will need an alignment tool.
