gearbox drain

does anyone know if you can drain the oil from a MK1 c5 manual gearbox. if you can where is the drain plug

Course you can! Plug is on the bottom of the diff somewhere - quite possibly requires a square tool to undo it. Refilling is a bit more difficult as the official filler hole is on the back of the diff and inaccessible. Just fill the correct amount of oil via the breather on the top of the box. Oh, and ONLY use 75W80 spec oil.

thanks got the oil ready for it bv 75w80 did the engine oil today but couldnt see the gearbox drain

In some Citroen gearboxes the reverse switch is on the top, (under the air filter box on a Xantia), and is an easier way to fill the 'box.

had a look at that today it looks a lot easier through the vent on the c5 you only have to remove the cap.

ye must admit i didnt look to hard it was cold and windy working outside
