My limited experience with police, highways agency and VOSA officers is that they behave as one would expect from trained professionals - keep your cool, be reasonable, polite and co-operative and they will respond in kind. I've escaped with a single £60 penalty and no points when I could have been given 3 penalties and 6 points - (faults on someone else's lorry).
