A few minor issues with new hdi estate

Post by isisalar »

I've bought a Hdi 110 exclusive estate which I'm picking up Wednesday.
There are a few minor issues which I would like some guidance(and possibly help) solving, and some general brain picking.

It's sitting a bit low at the rear. I sat in the boot and it lifted ok. When I got out it was at the correct height but quickly dropped to it's previous position. I guess there's something amiss with the height correcter, possibly needs lubricating?
It has had the rear spheres replaced recently

The nsr window seems to jump out of its runner when lowered, broken locating peg?

The sunroof, which has hardly ever been used, slides back and forth ok but also seems to 'come off its runner' when put in the tilt position, more lubrication? I've been advised to only use silicone lubricant. Any sunroof specialists out there?
That's all the faults as far as I know.
This car has a full dealer history from new and has now done 158,000 miles. According to the citroen service schedule when would it last have had a lhm change?

The car has recently had a new high pressure fuel pump fitted. Is there much likelyhood there could be bits of the old one sloshing round the fuel system?
Can someone explain the service indicator system please?
Really looking forward to picking it up on Wednesday.
Cheers

Estates nearly always seem to be a bit low at the back - lubricating the height corrector and then resetting the height should fix it. It will probably be high at the front too....

Duuno - mine's got manual windy ones on the back....

Again, dunno - mine has no sunroof...

I think it's 3 years / 36k - probably due then.

Hopefully not if the filter was cleaned out properly (assuming that the pump spat bits out in the first place). You can only suck it and see....

It counts down from 12,500 miles, and is visible when you turn the ignition on. I think when it gets to <500 miles the spanner comes on, beyond the 12,500 and the spanner stays on - and it may begin to go negative on the counter. To reset it, turn the ignition off, press and hold the trip reset button, then switch on the ignition. The indicator will 'count up' to 12,500 - when it gets there, just let go of the trip button and it will remember it.

Enjoy it!

The LHM replacement interval is, as stated in the previous post, 36,000 miles. Citroen also recommend that every third change should have a hydraflush cycle to clean out the pipework, pump, struts, etc. Hydraflush costs £32 for 5L from GSF. If you have to do a change here is a useful link;

Hey, isisalar, I thought you didn't like the Hydractive suspension? What changed your mind?

IIRC when the maintenance counter hits 00000 it stops there, but flashes when you turn on the ignition.

I drove the car and it seemed fine.I suspect that the problem with the Vsx has been a flat middle sphere or duff electrovalves either way I've been so skint these last few years I couldn't investigate either possibility fully. Now a fresh start, with hopefully a better chance of keeping the car A1 as I would like it to be.
It was the testament of so many posters that convinced me to give hydractive one more chance, but I still wish it wasn't compulsory.

Hello again isisalar,

There is something I thought of. Do you know when the cambelt was last changed. IIRC the interval is 80,000 miles or 10 years (whichever happens first), so if it hasn't been done, it is due VERY soon.

If it needs to be done (and you are getting a decent garage to do it), ask them to do the aux belt kit at the same time. Most of these parts have to come off anyway to change the timing belt, so it makes sense to fit new parts at the same time.

I an not posting this to put you off, but to ensure long and happy Xantia ownership.

At 158k cam belt of been done fairly recently... Or else its DIRE over due ...

Open the cover on the ECU box, next to the Water expansion bottle, and see if a small Black box with a white cable has been spliced into the harness that plugs into the suspension ECU, the one with the two plugs, if so, then the Electro valves should be functioning correctly, and there fore spheres needed...

You can check them with the Door open and close job.. They should buzz for a while after the door is shut with the engine off...

Hello again,

I meant the cam belt has to be changed on 80,000 miles, then 160,000 miles, 240,000 miles, and so on. In other words, every 80K miles.

Yours is a C5 Stu - I was referring to Xantias.

HDi cambelt interval is 10 years / 100k (80k in severe service - whatever that is!) Mine ran to 10 years and 110k and still looked A1 when it came off. On a car of this age and mileage unlikely to be worth the £400 to change it - just run it till it breaks then scrap it :(

£400+ is a large amount if you have to spend it regularly on maintaining the car. However, £400 over 80K miles is only 0.5p per mile. Look at it over time, and it works out at £40 per year (on the 10 year interval). The 2.0l HDi 8v engine is very reliable when properly maintained, and most people on the forum rate it as one of the best diesel engines ever designed.
