I have a problem with my '99' 206 1.4, When its cold & i start it up, it ticks over on idle fine, as I drive off, its ok but afew minutes later the revs goes mad, revs up and down, but not low enough of it to stall, then afew minutes later it gives itself a massive rev and then its fine, I dont know what it could be
i have had success sorting these by removing it blast it out with carb cleaner then give it a shot of duck oil, or maybe a squirt of 3in1 from a spray can,
i found only using carb cleaner was ok for test purposes but it dried the stepper motor out inside, hence the shot squirt of a very light/fine oil,
do not put WD40 anywhere near it or out else for that matter, except the trash can!!!!!!!

Absolutely
I've had this on a 206 1.4 and a good clean and lube of the idle stepper motor and a good clean of the housing did the trick a treat. You may find a load of gum in the housing.
To give best access it's better to remove the whole throttle body - it's easy, just three screws - and then you can work at it on the bench and do a really good job of it.
Afterward it's a good idea to get the car on to PP2000 diagnostics and re-calibrate the stepper motor and perform and engine ECU re-initialisation.
i dont think it has a throttle body as such Jim as it is probable mono point injection,
spoz thats if its petrol in the first place

Get it on a PP2000! Guesswork is not good with a problem like this. A session aboard a PP2000 might well help pin-point the problem plus after you've had the stepper motor out it needs re-calibrating...
I didnt manage to get the stepper motor out, i took it to a garage and they said that a lead had come out of a senor, but its not different, whats pp2000?

the stepper motor is a small usually black cylindrical device held in by two torx screws,
pp2000 is a dealer diagnostic analyser which some members on here own,
here is a link to the thread with location map
