Addo's dreams come true - Activa estates.
I was having a gander at le Bon Coin, looking for CXs and Activas and chanced upon a couple of Xantia estates, fitted with the ARCS suspension system. Now I do not profess to know all the vagaries of Citroen production, and was surprised to find not just one for sale but two!
They are both c.18997/8 dates, one with a 2.0CT engine and the other with the 2.1TD donkey. Prices were not prohibitive either, given that les Francais seem to ask for higher prices for their older cars than in the UK. Not sure that they necessarily achieve these higher values though.
As there now seems to be a dearth of Activas in the UK, I have been considering buying a left-hooker and importing it into the UK, and then possibly convert it to RHD. If I do do it, I'll bring in a V6 with manual transmission as there is no point in messing about. This spec of car does come up quite often and are usually well maintained. Will it be cheap?[-o<
What about the estates, Addo?

Re: Addo's dreams come true - Activa estates.
I have never heard of an Activa estate and as far as I am aware there is no such thing. I have done quite a bit of research into Activas and have never came across an estate version. Likewise never a 3.0 V6 estate, unless it has been made ...
However, if they did exist that would be a very tempting machine. Have you got any links to the ones which are for sale?
Importing a LHD Activa is appealing, however their prices are often quite high, in France at least. Can you imagine, a 3.0 V6 manual Activa estate, perhaps on LPG. What a machine that would be!

Nice - rip that TCT mill out and put a v6 in and I'd be in Xantia Nirvana!

BTW, I've seen plenty of s2 V6 estates in Germany/France Chris
and the temptation was very strong to consider importing one!

Im quite surprised we got an Activa at all!
I like the TCT engine, I'd have a TCT estate if it had ARCS.

Ava gander at this: http://www.leboncoin.fr/voitures/382837023.htm?ca=7_s" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Or this one: http://www.leboncoin.fr/voitures/378782293.htm?ca=7_s" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Or this one: http://www.leboncoin.fr/voitures/351622468.htm?ca=7_s" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The 2.1TD estate seems to have done a bunk. The first car has a leather interior, but requires the rear trailing arm bearings replaced. Price in GBP, about 1400, but I know what I would buy that for.
The second car is a 2.0 engine, but the twin-cam, 16V, not that slow old 8V donkey, which can easily be tweeked to give about 200BHP.
The last one is a nice V6 Activa, with a manual gearbox. Shame about the colour, if it was Dante Red, I'd be after it.
If I see any more I'll let you know. I am gong over to France soon so I may get a chance to have a look at one or two of these.

Re: Addo's dreams come true - Activa estates.
Yes Addo, its not inconceivable that somebody has done an engine swap, as I had fitted a 2.2L 16V engine in my older Activa, before it got roasted. I was in the throws of fine tuning it and it was proving to be a much more lively engine than the TC lump, even though it was normally aspirated, not turbocharged. That was going to be the next project.
Andrew, I thought the track car wasn't half bad, at least it is being put to good use. Not sure how competitive it would be, unless it was substantially lightened. I do remember that Xantias were used quite extensively in Autocross in France, and the World Champion was supported by the factory. I did read that eventually, they took out the ARCS system, and the hydro-pneumatics and ran the cars on conventional coil springs towards the end of the factory support.

Remember that white one with orange bits and tubes on the roof I think to make it look like a starfleet shuttle craft.CitroJim wrote:Where? Do tellXac wrote: Then I thought "d'you know what? We've seen worse"
Then there was that silver one with a bodykit.
At least this one is still a Mk1, just it's got a paintjob and a silly spoiler.
