306 xsi
im looking at buying a 306xsi but i dont know that much about them. im aware that they made a 2.0l 8v but when i was looking on autotrader someone was advertising an xsi but it was a 2.0l 16v! was a 16v xsi actually built or is it simply a mistake? if so does anyone know the performnce figures for it? and what do i need to know when looking around at them? any help would be appreciated.

as far as I know the only xsi was the 8v, the 16v was the 306 s16. Go onto www.parkers.co.uk and find out the price for any old 306 and at the bottom there will be a link to technical info and it will list all the models there

The phase 2 & 3 XSi models are 16v and have 266mm front discs and the engine code is XU10J4R, the GTi-6 models are XU10J4RS.
I've been disappointed with mine. It's not very rapid, does'nt handle that well, in fact it does'nt feel like a hot hatch. Build quality is appaling, and reliability is also poor.
Paul.

well my 150bhp zx 16v is slow in a straight line and so will be 306 s16s which were written as 155 (as are most zx's). So the 137bhp and lower spec xsi's will be even worse. Warm hatches at most. I dont class mine as a hot hatch as its mid 8's to 60 which is painfully slow these days. Still fun down twisty lanes though as its quite torquey.
