Whats wrong with the headlights?

C5s probably have one of the most reliable 'proper' suspension systems of any Citroen, they rarely need looking at. All parts can be sourced easily and fairly cheaply too.

I would not buy from this guy on principal, your right that its probably worth about £600-£800 at the very very top end.

Citronut....I didnt, but just pointed things out and he didnt like it, at first he said "your obviously more mechanical then me", then when I mentioned about the injector needing coded (ok I thought they did, I was wrong) and needing a clutch very shortly as the bite far to high....he started getting stroppy.

C/mad....they're fekin horrible, but that just m/o...and crap, or the were on my last C5, they were clouded badly which I know wont help though, if the suspension's quite reliable that's fine. I just remember a few years when we had a BM est and had air bags for back suspension and they burst....that was expensive, and said fk it I'll stick to spring/shocks

I've a feeling if I want one of these, It'll be a trip down south, hopefully not to far though, and it's not a bin if/when I got there

This is a quote from the description of one I was looking at...is it serious and I take it wont work till fixed

WHEN I PURCHASED THIS THERE WERE LIGHTS ON THE DASH THAT RELATE TO THE SUSPENSION, I HAVE HAD A GARAGE LOOK AT IT AND BEEN TOLD IT IS ERROR CODE P3551 WHICH THEY THINK RELATES TO A BAD EARTH. THIS DOES NOT AFFECT THE RUNNING OF THE CAR AT ALL.PLEASE BEAR THIS IN MIND

For information, HOWEVER im not sure on the C5, But I know on Xantias with the same HDi 110 8v engine, injectors can be swapped and changed and NO Coding needed at all.. I cant see how an ECU can tell if something like that has been changed.. All it does it trigger the Piezo switch to inject the fuel...

The Xantias Ive swapped injectors on have never needed coding anyway, and I even took a HDi 90 engine and put a 110 ECU onto it without a lexia.. and it ran from 130k to 298k....

Maybe not on these, but it did on a Mondeo TDCI I had, £150 for the injector and 80 to code it.....as the guy said, 4 on this could write it off depending on the year

I have no problem with C5 headlights, they are very good and should be very powerful. A aged headlight lens will not help though, neither will aged/poor bulbs.

I would much rather have hydraulic Citroen suspension, no risk of a broken spring, which I have had and its not run. Especially if the spring goes through the tyre. I find airbags are generally not as reliable as the Citroen suspension. Ive had a very minor leak on the back cylinder of a C5 and also a problem due to someone previously puttin LHM in with the LDS, but other than that, they have been faultless. (touch wood!)

Granted there is the risk of the strut top appearing through the bonnet on Xantias and XMs but they usually look terrible before that happens!
