Re: Lexia group discount through moderator?

Unread post by DickieG »

I'm pleased to say that the Lexia/Diagbox sold by EasyDiagnostics works a treat on my 2008 C5 X7 (latest shape). When doing a "global test" Diagbox throws up an "Authetification" screen several times which you need to clear then away you go clearing fault codes and viewing live datastream etc.

I can also vouch for the proprietor of EasyDiagnostics (Jim) providing a first class backup service as when these Autentification screens appeared I thought I may not get full access to all the ECU's on this car, however last night Jim and I connected via TeamViewer and went through everything with him controlling my computer from his end showing me the ins and outs of Diagbox. Top marks for a first class back up service, what more could you ask for? =D> :-D

Obviously you need to have Diagbox connected to the internet then press F10 on your keyboard, I've just done that and I'm in the process of updating to 6.26 right now :-D

You can update Diagbox from the Citroen main server but not access "ediag" unless you have an account.

Glad to hear that. :) I had a good experience with Jim too, I spoke to him on the phone first, he was out of stock but promised to text me back as soon as they were in stock again, which he did, I spoke to him again, he was very helpful, offered a £10 discount for being a frenchcarforum member, paid by paypal and it arrived the next day.

The instructions provided were very clear (as the install process is moderately complex) the only quibble I would have is the printed sheet has not been updated to include both sets of updates that need installing to bring it right up to 6.22, but that is a minor point.

So far it has worked on my Xantia, I'm off to try it on a C5 today and on RichardW's C4 Picasso next week. :)

One suggestion I have is that because Diagbox is so much more sophisticated that the older Lexia software, it would be worth setting up a brand new sticky thread for Lexia owners to discuss how to operate the software, pass on tips and tricks to each other etc, so that we can pool our knowledge and experience of how to use it into one place. At the moment tidbits of information are being sprinkled amongst various different threads including this one, and easily fall through the cracks once a thread drops off the radar.

This thread is also somewhat redundant now as I presume you're no longer doing group buys having found a good source of Lexias at a good price, and I think most people who already have Lexias will have unsubscribed from this thread by now and are no longer checking it anyway. This thread was about obtaining Lexias, not operating them, so I think the time has come to create a brand new thread for any and all discussion regarding actual installation and operation of Lexia/Diagbox. :)

Bashe is an Indian dialect, maybe that's where the software is knocked off from.

 You could argue that but then as each car is different from the next and once you see how wide and varied Diagbox goes on this C5 the handbook would be the size of Wikipedia

Take a look at Jim's video for a small sample of Diagbox in action

Good points you raise Simon, mind you the video above does get you started, I'm just a bit curious about exploring every little corner of these things

If you mean you can't get Diagbox to authenticate I just clear those boxes that keep appearing (something like 6 times) then it gives up trying to connect with the Citoren main server and works as you'd expect.

Do you mean when the Lexia app launches from within diagbox it says it failed to authenticate ?

I get that too - what I do is plug the interface box in before launching diagbox, launch diagbox, choose xantia, enter the vin number, then just before pressing Lexia I unplug the USB cable to the interface, wait a few seconds, plug it in, wait a few more seconds until the USB connection chime has played then click Lexia to launch the Lexia app. Works every time for me :) If I don't unplug and plug the USB cable back in before launching Lexia it fails with an authentication error every time.

If I had to guess I would say that Windows is sending data to the interface box that is putting the box in an undefined state when the Lexia app launches.

The Lexia connects via a USB connected serial interface and uses a command set that is not unlike AT commands for a modem, its possible that windows is probing the serial interface looking for plug and play modems and is thus confusing the interface box leaving it in a state where it is not ready to accept commands, unplugging and plugging it back in again resets the state of the interface box.

I have vague recollections of a registry tweak that can prevent windows probing certain serial interfaces for plug and play modems which may prevent this issue, but I'd have to research it further. To be honest I'm not too bothered about just unplugging the cable and plugging it back in before launching the Lexia app.

I just tried to update from 6.22 to 6.26, following the instructions in Jim's video, but its rendered my installation inoperative :(

When I launch diagbox I now get the following error message:
crash.PNG
Then when diagbox launches it says "It is necessary to activate the applications in order to use them...." so its no longer activated...

I guess I'm now stuck with trying to do a full re-installation ?

Somehow I knew something would go wrong trying to do the internet update...

Simon I take it you have rebooted your laptop to allow the update to install?

Err, no, no reboot was shown in the video guide. I have rebooted since the error has occurred though with no improvement.

I went into diagbox, clicked update, let it download the updates, exited diagbox, launched it again as shown - it went through the update process and right at the end of the update process the above error came up, which now comes up every time I open diagbox...(along with a message that it is not activated)

When you did the internet update did you update from 6.01, 6.19, or 6.22 ? I updated from 6.22 (both updates from the dvd already installed) and I'm just un-installing it now to re-install, but I can't decide whether to try the internet update from un-updated 6.01, after the 6.19 update, or after the 6.22 update...

I updated mine each update stage in turn, then rebooted each time and checked the false/true marker then plugged in the interface at the end of each procedure, having said that the interface only updated once out of 4-5 updates. Every time I rebooted then launched Diagbox it went through a process of installing the update prior to Diagbox launching.
