C5 estate DP filter hekp

Unread post by Tonyfarricker »

Can anyone help/ advise me on my Citroen C5 diesel around 4 weeks ago my engine management light came on but after a short trip on the motorway it would go off, now once off it would stay off for 3 or 4 days then come back on again so again a short run on the motorway it would go off, but now I’m at the stage where it comes on almost every other day, I recon it’s the DPF filter needing fluid topping up and then the ECU values resetting, does anyone else think this is so or could it be anything else, the car is old now it’s a 2002 2 litre estate its done 85k miles, it doesn’t have the computer on the display like the more posh cars that lets you know you’re having a DPF problem.

Where would be best to take this to be done I’m in Hyde Cheshire or could the job be done by a DIY enthusiast, even better can these dame filters be removed or bypassed.

Any help would be greatfully appreciated.

Your car should not be fitted with a DPF.
Is your C5 an LX?

There are various reasons for the EML to show. It should really be treated to a diagnostic session to give a better idea of where the problem lies.
A dealer diagnostic will set you back a fair few quid but a lot of the members who own Lexias have offered to run them on other member's cars for far less.

Take a look in this thread and see if there is anyone local to you, then PM them to make arrangements.

It makes it easier for everyone if you could put your car details in your signature and your location below your avatar, saves the same questions being repeated endlessly.

Not at all Tony.
You are new to the car and the forum. Can't be expected to know everything from day one.

As Steve said, your 2.0HDi LX won't have a DPF filter. So your best solution is to get your car hooked up to a Lexia and go from there. :)
