(Speed?) Camera

Post by uhn113x »

Hi Folks
On a road near us there is a camera on a pole, same size yellow box as yer regular Gatso, but facing the oncoming traffic. The front appears to have two transparent round windows, one about 9 inches in dia, one half that size. There is no grid on the road, but a little way along there are three raised strips full width of the road, a few inches apart.
The same road also has normal Gatsos.
Anyone know what this is?

Sounds like one of the "Truvelo" cameras that take pictures of the driver from the front.

Yes, the most dangerous thing on the roadside. I was flashed by one early one morning on a fast road and blinded for a few seconds in pitch darkness. I WAS BLOODY NEARLY KILLED.
The idiot who designed this abomination should be publicly beaten to death very slowly and sadistically before all these truvelos are melted down. I await the court case against the company that makes them, when somebody is killed by one, because somebody will be.

Yeah, right. Many of us can see well into the near IR spectrum.

Thanks folks
A Truvelo seems to be certainly what it is - never seen one before!
I wonder why on earth they fitted one of these and three Gatsos on the same stretch of road? Too much money to spend? [}:)]
I wonder does anyone proof-read the web site, as well -
