scenic mpg

Unread post by redhat »

Hi Guys,
Dreaded taxman querying my business diesel estimates (no receipts - don't ask!) so I need to work out MPG for a 1998 Scenic 1.9dti (urban & combined and if poss when FULLY laden). Looking to back it up with an early mag review of the Scenics (Autoexpress; Autocar; Diesel Car etc from '96/'97'98) but no joy from these mags so far (threw out my copy three months ago! - great) Have tried AA, Beaulieu Motor Museum Museum, British Libray (even)- no joy. Anyone got an old review with MPG's or any suggestions? Don't want Renaults own figures as I guess they may be 'optimistic'. And for a second real longshot - any figures for (average) diesel prices in Reading during '01 - '02? Have tried AA tables' national averages for those years but "Southern" area covers a large range! With bated breath...

you could load the car up put a measured amount of fuel in 10-20-50 litres in set the trip meter and drive a combined urban route,or take the official figures and deduct 10-15 percent to give a more taxman friendly figure.

You could always try a posting on the dieselcar forum, a friendly forum dedicated to DERV cars, where you may get some advice for your problem. There is a renault section where owners may know the MPG of the Scenic dti model.
