What a nightmare took my scenic ii ( 2006 ) in for MOT today and the very nice man passed it with an advisory stating NEARSIDE INNER TRACK ROD BALLJOINT EXESSIVE PLAY now to me and you this means the stearing rack end ball joint ( Underneath the boot on the stearing rack ) ive got the part to replace it with but i cant get the originall one off because renault in theire wisdom ommited to put any recess for a spanner on outer shell ( Housing ) of the ball joint so it looks like a minature cv joint but with a thread on the shaft instead of splines.
Renault use a special tool which works a bit like a stud extractor crossed with a calliper rewind tool its bassically a short pole with a slotted end end a flat plate which goese through the slot then a piece opposite allthread is used to clamp ti together the force of this eventually forces the end of the linkage to turn thus unscrewing it however i can only find a couple of these for sale and they go for over £30.00 so im looking for ideas as to how to remove this without spending the money on tool as im broke. Any sugestions would be greate
