C5 Executive V SX

Unread post by Peter.N. »

I have seen a couple of cars advertised as 'Executives' which have had neither leather or electric seats, so what's the difference?

They are not Exclusives, just a con.
Executives are a name of 15 years ago and were downmarket fleet cars for the lurk merchants.

Ah right, so what do the ones that don't have leather seats have that the SX doesn't?

Yep, the Exclusive does not have leather as standard.

In Series one C5, the Exclusive has Xenon lights, CD changer, wood dash trim, cruise control and electric seats (well I thought they did!) which are a strange deep velour fabric.

Leather was optional, as was sat nav and larger alloy wheels. The Exclusive SE, which is fairly rare, has these as standard.

The Series two C5 Exclusive is the same, no leather or sat nav. They were optional extras and no Exclusive SE spec was available.

Wrong Chris.. Exclusives do NOT have Zenon lights or electric seats! They do have cruise and false wood on the ash tray area.

They are deep Velour manual seats with 6 disk CD changer under the seat and single slot CD changer in the Dash. They have standard H7 headlight bulbs....

Exclusive SE add electric leather, zenon lights folding door mirrors and I think reversing sensors, but not sure of the reversing sensors..plus All the LX and SX stuff...

The levels in original S1s are LX, SX, Exclusive and Exclusive SE.

Then later on they added VTR and VTR + which had nicer trims, multi spoke alloys and rear wiper at last. Not sure if the VTR and VTR + actually replaced the LX and SX respectivly...

Thanks Chris and Paul

My SX has cruise control and several other things that I don't know what are for. I am in the process of fitting electric leather seats, I also have available the brown plastic that masquerades as wood. The reason I ask the question is that the Exclusives seem to make a lot more money than the SXs but don't seem to have much extra for it.

Not quite Paul ...

The Exclusives in some years do have electric but cloth seats, you can also find C5s with leather and non electric seats. It must be year depending but a great deal of Exclusives do have electric cloth seats. Most Exclusives also have Xenon lights, if it had front headlamp washers it has Xenons - I believe.

Last S1 Exclusives (available when the VTR was, so has the same wheels but no rear wiper - an option) had standard leather and xenons. Satnav was still optional.

The VTR replaced the SX, it stepped the spec up slightly, had larger alloy wheels, a rear wiper, an alarm. There as no VTR+ Spec. The LX remained throughout.

In C5II it was LX, VTR and Exclusive. Excslusives all have directional Xenon headlights with washers - this was optional on VTR. They also got the parking pack, which is front and rear sensors with electriclaly folding door mirrors. Among other things. Leather and satnav were options on all C5II Exclusives.

There was also, for a limited time, a 'Design' - based on the LX it added alloy wheels and a few other small items. THough it kept the black bumper rub strips. Oddly the Design came only with the 1.6HDi which was non-dpf, for unknown reasons. It could also be had with a 1.8 16v engine.

Likewise, there was the VTX+. Based on the VTR, it added the large colour screen satnav, built in phone, voice activation and CD changer. It could be had with the 1.6HDi 110bhp or the 2.2 173bhp - which is superb.

Your SX must have had cruise fitted, as its not standard on SX. Our SX has it fitted too, I wouldnt be without it

Ive done a motorway run in the Xantia today, I was really missing the cruise control which my C5 and XM has. Keeps me from doing naughty speeds too

Steve, Your 2003 C5 should have the second brake switch, so all you need is the stalk. If you get one I'll happily help you fit and code it for you. They are about £30 or so new.

My Mk 1 2004 Exclusive has:

Leather, electric seats, rear parking sensors, CD in dash and changer under seat, cruise control.

Doesn't have:

Heated seats, xenon lights, memory button for electric seats, big error by Citroen. does the Mk 2 C5 have a memory button?

A 2004 C5 should have Xenon lights, they certianly do in the brochure info  They don't look like Xenons, im not sure how they manage it without the projector lens.

No, C5IIs dont get memory seats either.
