mk1 c5 2.2 hdi diagnostic plug won't play

Unread post by spanners bitch »

Hi, had my c5 for 4yrs but it has been stood up for 2yrs initially due to the dreaded EML particulate prob. My spanner man seems to have sorted everything physically but now we can't clear the codes and reset her as the computer plug appears dead, he spoke to Citroën and tested it to see if it was live (it was) but it still refuses to talk to the diagnostics computer! any ideas please before I sell my soul to pay Citroën to rummage? Maybe I should've stuck to ZX's lol thanks in advance for any help

Update: bus is with Dallas at GWD motors. http://www.gwdmotors.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Apparently a 40 amp maxi fuse had blown which controls various functions including the hydraulics ( 3 wks ago she sat down and refused to get up !) and diagnostics plug, he has managed to get his dealership scanner to talk to the car and cleared all the codes but it seems that the Eolys fluid we bought (green) is mineral based and ok for zantias but c5 needs fully synthetic (pink). On top if that she needs a new hydraulic pump and maybe a DPF...I've got til Monday to decide what to do...

There is something strange there.
Xantias do not use Eolys fluid. They do not have the DPF system.

What you have there is hydraulic fluid, Xantias do indeed have green (LHM) while C5s use orange (LDS) fluid.

There are some variations in Eolys fluid and it is important to use the correct type.
It sounds as though you have been misinformed or misunderstood what they have told you.
Also it is unlikely that the pump is broken, rather the electric motor that powers it. Still not good news as they are expensive but if you have a look on the forum there have been a couple of repairs made to the motors and they are available in scrapyards for a fraction of the dealer price.

Good advice there, we always fit used c5 hydraulic pumps, as the new price is more than most cars are worth.
The DPF is unlikely to need replacing, there are some easy shortcuts that can be done .
We have found that drilling two 15 mm holes through the dpf makes the car "think " the dpf is working, ie gives the correct pressure readings, but doesn't look affected from the outside :)
A bit cheaper than putting a new one on ;)

Thanks guys, we were offered the choice of smacking the DPF out totally and having an ECU remap cost £208 plus VAT and 3hrs labour - took that option, car now runs sweet :-D as for hydraulics managed the impossible and found a pump on eBay for 30 quid! The man and my mate fitted it, primed it using a compressor to 5 psi (can't remember who's thread on here told me to do that but still eternally grateful) and as a result the old girl is back on her feet...gotta strip the brakes and sort a few hydraulic leaks then put her through an MOT and hope she passes [-o<

Will get the man to look @ the old pump, we bought a c5 2.2 hdi exclusive estate with 10 months MOT and a blown turbo and damaged swirl valve (didn't know that @ the time she was just a non runner) for spares...put a second hand turbo on and I am driving that now til my girl is back on the road. Took her to gwd as well for a remap, Spanners smashed out the DPF himself which saved the labour charge =D> she announced antipollution fault this morning...back to gwd (those guys r gonna hate me lol ) he put her on scanner and it was because the turbo had run too high and apparently if I'd not used the high revving sport option it may have not happened for a while in normal auto mode so we're on a mission to find a spilt pipe or dodgy electrovalve...all good fun, glad it happened now and @ home rather than while I was flying down the m4

Sorry, was confused with info given by garage- he was talking about hydraulic fluid not Eolys, non mechanic mistake oops
