High temp resistance fuel pipe advise...

Hi all..

As no one wants to talk to me on XM Fourm, ill try on here.. Can anyone advise where I can get some high temperture resisting fuel line??

I fitted a section on my 24v XM S1 just below the off side sphere beside the inner suspension turret. Being a PRV V6 there must be a lot of heat as the pipe I fitted had gone hard and brittle, and subsiquently it split, and so lost a lot of fuel... As if the PRV 24v uses a lot already...

So I dont want to fit any normal fuel hose, instead a heat resistant so it wont split again! Its on the FEED line too, not return.

Only need about 6" of hose.

Gates fuel injection hose seems to survive on the Jag V12 injector rail, which is quite tropical compared to your PRV environment. I don't know what diameter you need.

Maybe your previous hose was diesel, not petrol rated?

Not incredibly useful I know Paul, however I changed a few underbonnet rubber fuel pipes on the XM Prestige today and the replacement pipe I used had written/stamped on the side "suitable for unleaded fuel".

I've two types of fuel pipe here - one "standard rubber" pipe, and then a standard rubber pipe that looks like it's thermal sleeved - possibly to withstand extra heat. Might be worth looking into that route...

Stick a bit of copper in where it's heat affected? Not sure what internal dia the rubber hose is, but I've got a load of 8mm copper pipe in the garage if you want a bit....

Normal fuel hose will take the heat of an engine bay, it should just be replaced evry 10 ish years and be rated to the pressue your fuel system runs, no good putting hose for carb'd vehicles on a fuel injected vehicle etc etc.

Aeroquip SH925, rated to 150 Deg C continuous. The problem with fuel hose obtained from the likes of Halfords etc, you don't know what you are getting, regardless of markings.
