The one thing that really annoys me about my 305 is that it has non-power steering. I am pretty small (my excuse is that I am a bassist and tall bassists just don't look right!), and this car has heavy steering. I checked all the steering joints and strut tops and etc, and I am pretty sure there are no mechanical faults, its just that its...well, a reasonably big car with no power steering. All the other mods that I wanted to do (bosch pump and a turbo engine) can wait, but this one is really something I would like to achieve soon.
So I was looking at ways to fit power steering.
I noticed that racks don't seem to pose too much of a problem, by the looks of it a lot of French steering racks will fit as long as you use 305 tie bars/joints and find somewhere to put that shifter pivot the 305 has. The only critical dimensions is rack mounting points, the steering input shaft position/angle, and total rack length, which all seem to be very common amongst French cars, so I think the rack will not cause problems.
But I am looking for somewhere to mount the pump.
It looks like two options:
1) Scavenge the pump/crank pulley/alternator/mounting casting from a later car (205 etc) and mount all that on the crank end, converting to the bigger 4-rib belt etc.
2) My engine has the weird pulley sticking out of the 'wrong' side of the cam shaft, which powers the vacuum pump, so I could in theory scavenge a double cam pulley from a C15 or 205 or something, and use a power steering pump that mounts on the transmission.
I like idea No2 way more, because there is more room on that side of the engine etc.
The question is, would the transmission-mounted PAS pump (like 205 C15 etc) fit onto my 305 transmission?
I still have not learned all the different transmissions, but as far as I know this 5-speed manual which I have is a reasonably common transmission across the range. I also found 3 holes on the top of the transmission's top surface, which I assume are for mounting the pump in other vehicles?
Here is a photo of the holes:

So I have a few questions:
1) Are these holes indeed for mounting the transmission-mounted PAS pump? The shifter lever looks kind of in the way, but maybe its just me, maybe the pump's base compensates for that.
2) Is this the correct pump? LINK
3)Anybody happen to know what size belt it uses?
Thank you!
