Dripping in Footwell

Post by arkweld »

Hi , all he's anyone had any experience of getting condensed drips of water from the aircon in the passengers footwell ,
i ask because with the aircon running full for an hour yesterday,in the unusually hot weather ,parked on a slope
there was a constant dripping from under the Xantia , this formed a stream small puddle .
I have since found that this dripping is relatively normal from the condensing in high humidity .
But then the drips from just under the glove compartment which was the taste test of water "not coolant" has me bemused .
Could the fan blowers possibly blow these droplets , it also has nothing to do with scuttle or such as this has good seal and been nowhere
rain for a while , any thoughts appreciated .

It could be the drain tube from the heater box is partialy blocked and in humid weather the sump is overflowing and dripping into the car rather than exiting through the drain tube.

not sure as ive never had a Xant with A/C or played with one, it will exit through the transmission tunnel behind the ashtray i would think but someone who knows will be able to tell you.

There's a tap run off on the bulkhead low down and tackled from underneath.
This usually needs to be disconnected when taking the heater box out to renew
the heater matrix and is easily forgotten and damaged during this repair.

Why there would be a big puddle of condensed water I cannot imagine unless
the system is so good it's pulling all the moisture out of the air which must
be quite high to begin with for sufficient quantity to be produced??

Mine produces a lot of condensate, and it's well-serviced. The Xantia AC drain spigot is in the passenger footwell, it passes out the firewall sort of above the anti-roll bar clamp into a rubber elbow. Near the hydraulic pressure drop detector on RHD cars.

I've seen the elbow poorly fitted from factory, causing it to not drain properly.
