Citroen GS' spotted

Post by macplaxton »

A friend spotted this pair of Citroens at a show:

Image

What's odd about this gold one is:
  • It's at a Citroen Meet in Saratoga, New York, USA
  • right-hand rear door damage
  • UK vehicle registration mark (if it is the correct one at some point in it's life)
  • The vehicle details for NFC 223S are:
    Date of Liability 01 07 2013
    Date of First Registration 07 06 2007
    Year of Manufacture 1978
    Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1220cc
    CO2 Emissions 0g/Km
    Fuel Type PETROL
    Export Marker N
    Vehicle Status SORN Not Due
    Vehicle Colour GOLD
    Vehicle Type Approval Not Available
Vehicle Excise Duty rate for vehicle
    6 Months Rate £74.25
    12 Months Rate £135.00
  • From the above I assume a SORN has recently been done on a car bearing that VRM
  • It doesn't have an export marker
  • It's a long way from home
  • I'm told it had a Maryland plate on the rear (not sure if it had a current sticker either)
How odd. Does anyone recognise it? Is it on a long holiday? (I quite fancy a round-the-world trip if I won the lotto :) )

Malcolm, I've always wondered what the plural is, not to say, but to write down. I think I was going to come back to the title as I was thinking GS's - hmmm, grocers' apostrophe - then I though GSs, but then it ends in s, so would it be GSes. Then my head hurt, so I just left it. 8-)

I believe it was a few comments suggesting a pair of G's being too much to handle
(in a non Citroen context...)

Oddly enough I did hear, ages ago when I was driving a GS, that it was supposed to be the Princess but was rejected by BL and adopted by Citroen.
Probably a UL but innerestin.
I had a Princess just like that but with the very trendy and upmarket vinyl roof. Class
