C5 III 2008 --> aftermarket cd-player?

Post by Xantippa »

Has anyone here changed cd-player on new C5? It seems that original cd-player is exactly 1-din size, am I right? Does one need to "tell" car that player has changed with Lexia, or is it just plug and play? I´ve just ordered Kenwood Kdc-bt92sd and Kenwood´s stalk adaptors. Waiting to get them and it would be nice to know wether Lexia is needed or not. How about reverse parking sensor, can one get beeping with aftermarket cd-player?

My early C5 suffered a problem running the battery down in about 48 hours as a result of fitting an aftermarket radio, in this case it was a Blaupunkt. I don't know if yours will cause any problems but they should come with an adaptor lead that leaves disconnected anything to do with the ECU, the alternative is to disconnect all the connections from the power plug except the switched/unswitched 12v supplys and earth, I did that with mine and the problem dissapeared.

Now I´ve done it. New cd-player is Kenwood KDC-BT92SD with CAW-CCANPE1 wiring harness and CAW-CANUN1 CAN-box. Installation was pretty simple after I figured out that ignition-power must be taken from CAN-box. Now there´s just a little problem with the steering wheel -buttons; volume and mute works ok, << and >> work mostly as rewind and ff, but also occasionally as they should, eg. skipping to previous or next track. Other buttons don´t work at all. Let´s see what Kenwood´s support says...

So, Kenwood can´t provide a CAN-box that would work with C5 III (X7).

Has anyone tested can-boxes made by Incartec or Connects2, and do they work with this car?

Incartec´s 39-LS2-QUAD works OK. Clock adjustment works. Only list-button doesn´t work, but one can change track and adjust volume using steering wheel buttons. Also parking buzzer works now.

Just stumbled upon this info and I'd like to say thanks Xantippa - very helpful! I'm thinking about an aftermarket stereo upgrade in my 2008 C5 III. Mainly as the factory-fit Blaupunkt RD4 has problems (rear channels have stopped working) and nobody seems able/willing to fix it, and the main stealer is quoting £400+ for a replacement....

So it is heartening to know that there is a CAN-box that'll do the job. My C5 doesn't have parking sensors etc so hopefully it'll all go smoothly. Incidentally the head unit I'm thinking of is a Pioneer DEH-X6500DAB so I'll also need to install a DAB aerial somewhere. I bet that'll be fun.

Strange that rear-channels dont work... I think theres only two amplifier-channels in RD4, so there must be something wrong with wiring, or in fader-adjustment. You have deattached RD4 so it would reset, and that didn´t help?

Incartec has much cheaper adapter if you don´t need parking buzzer. Patch lead for different mark cd-players come´s along, so you can always change your radio to some other if Pioneer´s not ok. Btw. I had major problems with Pioneer + Xantia HDi + Incartec -adapter (required reprogrammin the adapter at Incartec´s support) , but it might be easier nowadays with can-bus. And there´s no fakra-din -aerial-adapter included in Incartec´s can-adapter, so you´ll have to get that separately (Liquidice on ebay had dual fakra - din -adapter quite cheap). Don´t know if DAB-receiver has different kind of aerial connection though.

That's a RT6 (also known as eMyWay / RNEG2 / Wip Nav + ... possibly some other names for it as well) ... so, what about it?
