Locking wheel nut remover

For the Xsara Picasso, Are they the same as fitted to an Xantia.

Can't find mine and the tyre services just tried to get one off and failed. Anyone know are they standard fitment on the alloy wheels for both cars.

the bolt threads are the same.. but the locking heads are all unique to the set on a car... so, if you can remove the one thats not got a key remove the others and xantia bolts will do the job fine...

Thats not what i wanted to hear Paul, Can't you tell me lies or something,...lol.

So i need the 4 removed and if the others are as tight as the one that was tried today then i suppose drilling them out is next..

I bet i could get a key from Citroen..And i bet i need to win the lottery first then.

I can't find the wheel nut remover and to be honest didn't even give it a thought when i bought the car so it was either not there or i have thrown it by mistake.

No help but they are the first thing I remove on a car, they are a pain.

They are to stop thieves pinching your wheels..Even i cant pinch them. I can understand them on a top class car but a Picasso and all other standard cars as you say, A pain.

I can get the code for the wheel locking nut , but Citroen will still charge you something like £50 for the key .
For what we are about to receive may we be truly thank full.

Find a used kit with at least two sets of blades, use it once then onsell to recoup 80% of your cost.

If you order new they take for ever to arrive, we remove t least 1set per week, but I have 4 different removal tools, they ain't easy :(

Some garage put mine on so tightly on the c5 I broke the remover on the 1'st wheel. Got the code and got a new one from Citroen at £45 and promptly broke it as well. Tried the bolt removers I have, they just chewed up the nuts, tried universal wheel nut removers still no joy so had to resort to the black and decker and lots of swearing and a few drill bits later they were all off. Since then no car I have anything to do with have locking nuts on. They only inconvenience the owner of the car, no-one else

WHY would you want to lock Factory Fitted Alloys anyway, no one else wants them!!

And I HATE tyre shops that have the Air Guns done up too much! Theres four or five bloody bolts holding the wheel on! What chance have you at the side of the road! They are mindless! Im fussy about which place I goto, when I do go.. ATS or Kwik Fit certainly a no go!

Any decent tyre shop will use an air gun on the lowest setting and then use a torque wrench to tighten up the remainder. I watch tyre fitters like a hawk whenever i get tyres to make sure they don't overtighten my nuts (ooooerr) :shock: Locking wheel nuts can be tightened using a brace but only to "tight" if that makes any sense!

I have tried 6 tyre services so far, no luck, Contacted the place where i bought the car from and going down there on Monday. He said he will help as much as he can. I hate alloy wheels with locking nuts.

Still a nice weekend coming up with plenty of sunshine,

Had a problem with a locking wheel nut on my C5 last year. Four tyre places had a go at it, no luck even using lock removal tools.

Then took it to a local indy, they used an air hammer/chisel to remove it: place the air hammer bit against the locking nut on an angle, rest the side of the hammer bit against the alloy wheel and have a go at it. First the head of the locking wheel nut comes off, and then have another go at whatever is left and it simply unscrews.

Took about a minute, and apparently I wasn't the first PSA customer with this problem. They reckon the PSA locking wheel nuts are cr@p, way to soft and get easily damaged.

There is a visible mark on the alloy where the air hammer was rested/pressed, but on the C5 it is all under a plastic cover so no big deal.

Is your anti-theft wheel bolt the older peg type or the later ribbed ones?
Usually, most wheel bolt removers do not work on PSA rims as the hole is too narrow and too deep.
On the later ribbed types bolts, I've found hammering on an slightly undersized socket usually works, as the shock of the hammering is enough to overcome the thread tension.
On the earlier peg types, a long pin chisel on an air chisel gun, is usually enough to shock them loose.

Failing all else, buy yourself a set of LEFTHANDED cobalt stub drills and drill out the centre of the bolt, using the reverse setting on your electric drill. Once you have a good sized hole, shove in an Easi-out, and the bolt will probably come out by hand.

BTW, once you have one off, you can see the code on the flange to order a new one from Citroen! :-D :-D

It is a pain getting them off but once done resort to standard bolts.
