Yea, all push fits, are low, trickle return to tank pipes...

Ive not seen one of those as bad as that before... The ones even on my L reg TD with 241k are cleaner then that..

If they havent gone right through a good scrub with emery paper to clean them up should do the job!

so were about's does the metal pipe go of to, and were exactly is this union situated,

also it will be an MOT failure,

On what grounds would it be an MOT failure?

regardless of the MOT, cleaning it up and adding a bit of paint should prevent further deterioration.

Possibly on the grounds that the MOT Tester will not know what it is [the pipe] for and will probably assume the worst.

Mechanics don't like our cars at the best of times. I see no reason why an MOT tester will have a clearer view - unless you take it to a main Citroen dealer for an MOT!!!

to an MOT tester this will/does look like a rusty pipe feral,,any suspension/brake pipe feral rusted to that degree will be an MOT failure,

you know if you leave things long enough they will either drop off or fix them self's,

The wheel bearing is not too bad but you do need a press.

as Sir Jim says good result,

but its odd they can hear a wheel bearing unless they drove the car,
as i belive to say for sure a wheel bearing is noisy without driving the car you need to remove the brake caliper/pads and pull the drive shaft out, this is to be 100% sure
