Trafficmaster woman must die!

Unread post by Stepto1 »

How do I kill off the Trafficmaster women who lives in my Xantia.

If she tells me one more time that the licence has expired I feel I may go mad!!!

She's not easy to kill  Normally she's only a PITA if you switch off the ignition and then quickly switch it back on...

Basically, she lives between the wireless and the speakers and takes over the speakers from the wireless when she feels the need. hence why she can appear even when the wireless is off. She's onmipresent

Now, she lives up behind the passenger airbag in a little box sitting atop the CPH next to the transponder. She's incredibly hard to get to and just disconnecting her is not enough. She'll take revenge by leaving you sans wireless if you do...

It should be possible to do some rewiring inside her box but it's a lot of hassle. An ideal job to do when the dash is out for other reasons...

A contortionist who has had training from Houdini can just get to her by taking the glovebox out and working blind...

I'd live with her for now...

"You blocked me on TrafficMaster, and now you're going to die"
... Well that's almost what she says at 1:46!

Arrggghhhhhh! Well, now my starter is fixed I shouldn't have to turn the ignition on and off quickly again.

I'd love to get rid and change that oh so out of date button on the dash for a nice blank.

Not even a fuse somewhere?

I didn't find her that hard to deal with, once I'd worked out where all the glovebox screws were (as I recall a couple are under the glovebox lining material, the BOL doesn't tell you that...).

Once I'd located the box I opened it and used a multimeter to find out which pins carried the earth and +12V feeds. I then unplugged the cable and pushed these pins in, so they no longer made contact but they could be pushed out again in the HIGHLY unlikely event that I ever wanted to use TM again. Plugged it in again and peace was restored.

I wonder if my car has the plugs/sockets for it?

Would be a cool fake option...

I've got the Oz-delivered Sony head unit; that's retro/dysfunctional enough.

Let me look for the plugs/sockets. It's switched on the dash, all alone, to the right of the hazard and AC?

mines quite mute.. she rarely talks.. but when any of her sisters or she does herself i simply press the tm button straight away.. she shuts up then... i think of it like sticking your finger in her mouth.. it mutes her... you could also turn the volume right down.. cant remember the seqence.. if you press twice quickly to goto volume mode she counts up to loud then down to quiet as soon as she is at the correct volume press the tm again that sets the level... if its not two quick presses its a press and hold to goto volume mode....
