Does it come on when you set the temperature below ambient?

Re: how does my aircon work???
If it has one, try the ‘auto’ button under the temperature display, that always starts it.
Otherwise, the ECO light on means the aircon is off.
The -/+ button must be set to some speed for the blower to spin.

Air con is on all the time and works when needed unless you switch off by having the eco button lit up.

Re: how does my aircon work???
Very early C5s have an AC button where the Eco button lives, though im sure the thinking is for C5s to have AC on all of the time (as its a comfort feature) and to have an optional off button - which is the eco button on mid 2002C5s onwards.
With the C5II (facelifted C5s) you have to go into the dash menu to turn off the AC, as the car would ideally like it on all of the time. I don't really find a difference with fuel eocnomy when its on or off. C5IIs also auto adjust the vent levels.
Hitting auto and selecting your temp is the ideal way for the heating to work.
