Compatable parts

Unread post by holmedog »

Hi everyone was wondering what parts on other xantias are compatable to the activa.

A friend of mine is possible getting rid of his 1.9td as it has a bad hydraulic leak and he doesn't want to pay a fortune for a repair as he can pick up another towing xantia fdor his racing clio for next to nothing.

I know that all his spheres are nearly new. and i wondered if other bits could be used on my Activa, such as:-
front wishbone and bushes
handbrake cables
rear rams with rose bushes
front engine top mount.

Then little things like hydraulic pump, screen wash pump. :?
Gun Metal Grey Activa turbo,R.I.P. Gone to scrap yard in the sky and jims garage
Blue Activa from dr.madvibe
Silver Activa lost soul

Activa wishbones are different to other Xantia ones as they have holes to locate the roll corrector mechanism.

Some of the sphere's are compatible (anti-sink and accumulator) the strut ones are much softer than Activa ones.

Struts are different, Activa and Hydractive ones have much larger holes for the Hydractive pipes.

Not unless you have the equipment to re-gas sphere's and/or know how to swap sphere dampers.

Never seen a 1.9TD with a rear ram yet, but never seen an elephant fly either! 8-[

Most suspension parts and much of the transmission on Activas is very different to the rest of the Xantia range, so very little is interchangeable. Body work and trim parts have a lot of commonality. Register with Citroen Service to use the free parts locator as this will give you part numbers that are the same or different between the models.

If the 1.9TD is a VSX, Athena, or Exclusive model then all of it's spheres are interchangable. Activa and VSX corners are apparantly slightly different but a few of us on here run them, Jim included so they must be OK!

I'm sure non-active wishbones can be drilled and tapped for the link rods, however the details thereof belong to a secret society who are unwilling to pass them on. :P
