what a night mare

Unread post by citronut »

blincking 307 HDI 1.6 110 clutch/DMF job

i think it would be easier to chop the front of with a petrol curb stone cutter,

just last week had all the down pipe/cat/FAP off,
now i fine it all has to come back off just to get one bell houseing bolt which goes in from the engine side, its head

Absolutely rediculous job, have done a few of these, and it beggars belief why they built it like that. 308 is even worse, you have to take the whole front off the car, inc air con rad , rad and intercooler, to get the DPF off.

first time round i managed to get the CAT/FAP off without leaning the rad/fan houseing forward, i removed the top engine mountting and pushed the engine backwards,
this time round i took the front bumper off, undid to rad/fan houseing bolts and just lifted and leaned it forwards,
took me two day so far and i have only just got the gear box on the floor and the clutch and flywheel off,

i must be a marter doing thesetypes of jobs on the axle standsand laying on the ground without use of a lift,

i blinking well ache all over,

now i remember why i dont want to work on cars for customers anymore  :? :x

Had one of these from a clutch centre, it was a Picasso 1.6 hdi. They had shorted the battery terminal onto the ecu and blown the ECU and BSI =D>
When we got it running it absolutely poured oil out of the bell housing, we took the box out and one of the DMF bolts had been snapped off in the crank 8-[ These go straight into the oilway, so leak about 1 litre of oil per minute.
An expensive lesson learned on that occasion [-X

Bloody hell  What a silly arrangement. This sort of stuff fills me with horror...

And here WAS me thinking doing a clutch in a 110HDi Xantia was a bit of a challenge. Compared to what has just been described above it's child's-play...

Unbelievable

We did a 206GTi 180 major including clutch. Dropped the whole driveline out from below (with a hoist; makes life simple).

Bleeding the clutch master was a right pain but everything else pretty straightforward.
