MOT fail, but still not unhappy.

Took my £500, 178,000 mile Xantia HDi 110 in for it's health check today. I knew I was going to need a couple of tyres soon so had that done before the test.

The test itself only threw up one failure point. Looks like the car has been incorrectly jacked up on the nearside rear at some point in it's life and a small hole punched in the floor. SO time to break out the MIG and fabricate a little patch. A dab of underseal and she'll be back to her best. Shouldn't cost more than a few £££s.

Gotta consider that a result. What a great car!!

Yes they are, I just brim filled mine after 740 miles and got 54.56 mpg

our beasty estate cost us £120 all in, (test fee, hours labour at £38, arb links, cv boot and a crate of beer for my welder for a small patch ion the sill) which was quite good as chucked it in blind after 6 months of happy motoring in it!

ours was a £450 td estate with 150k on it, Love it!!!

Got the nice new 12 month ticket on wednesday. The repair cost £9 for the sheet metal and £10 to buy a pair of snips. I did the welding myself. A colleague gave me a tin of underseal so that saved me a bit of change too.

Spent £2k on mine 6 years ago (1999 Hdi 110) and to echo your last post its the best car I have ever bought. Never let me down, never failed an MOT and what cracking MPG from a car which is nearly 13 years old.

I'll second that The 110 HDi is possibly the best Xantia out there all things considered. Very capable indeed.

Not just a great Xantia but a great diesel car, even compared to much newer stuff.

In work I have the dubious pleasure of regularly driving an 09 Focus TDCi. It's an NHS blood service car, regularly serviced and well cared for, and the engine is an absolute pile of kack. Horrendous low rev fuelling, rough, unrefined, not particularly economical. Shame really as it's an otherwise excellent (if dull) car, and good fun to drive. My ancient Xant is a limousine in comparisson. Smoother, quieter and easier on fuel.
