Folks,
2006 Scenic Mk II Dci. (this has the servo parking brake)
-
Rear pads noticed to be approx 2mm at MOT today (46000 miles).
-
Changed by experienced independent garage, by disabling parking brake. (lever in boot?), pads replaced, all normalised.
-
Now, have a "Parking Brake Fault" warning, red stop indicator flashing on dash, parking brake lever LED flashing, and car beeps when first entering.
-
Parking brake functioning perfectly, as always.
Will hold fine on a hill, will auto-release etc, and apply automatically when engine turned off
The garage took the car to main dealer, who charged £55 to hook it up to attempt to clear the indication, which they were unable to do!.
-
Their diagnostics suggested some kind of "voltage issue", and didn't know where to go next.
-
The garage who did the brake pad replacement, are reputable, having done many in the past involving these servo-assisted parking brakes, and have never seen this issue before.
-
Considering that the work they did was entirely mechanical, having not touched any electrics etc, it is hard to understand how this has happened.
-
The car is out of warranty... am loathed to throw money in a bottomless pit to Renault to rectify this, considering the management system is indicating a fault that does not exist in reality.
-
Please can anyone offer advice where to go with this.
-
Many thanks!

Steve

My son had similar symptoms on his Megané.
Renault were useless, independent in Kettering sorted it right away, brake fluid level incorrect.

Every time I do one of these, the triangle warning light comes on.Clearing the faults on the Technomotor or the Clip always cures it, cant understand why Renault couldnt sort the fault (and still charged ). Disconnecting the battery is often a good emergency plan, I am sure you wont get the problem again .
