sunroof problems xantia 97

hi, can anybody help me here, i can open the sunroof on my xantia, but it dont close so well, hv to hold what looks like a relay near the sunroof motor for it too close any ideas thanks in advance

From your description of holding the relay causing the motor to operate I'm thinking of poor contacts between the relay and socket so my first point of call would be to examine the condition of the contacts, clean them up and spray contact cleaner on them then refit, if that doesn't sort it then replace the relay.

As it opens OK, but won't close on the switch/relay, I'd suspect the switch. Had the same problem with my driver's side window - one-shot down every time, but umpteen tries to get it to close. Temporary solution was to swap with the rear door switch. Subsequently replaced with a good spare.
