Change of wheels & Tyres on GTi T2

Recently I bought on the lovely (sometimes)eBay 4 Alfa Alloys ones on the 147 with nearly new Pirrelli P7 16-205-55 as I don't want to run down the TRX's on Tcuts. (I may add I don't particularly like)
Any how handling is much improved, far more positive & cornering on the verge of scary.
Nice thing to do as I'm now bored of the T2 ( done all work needed ) looks great drives even better than it looks but no more to do what do I do keep it for posterity or flog in the Spring and buy a Xantia Activa replace Turbo for big t3 have it mapped

They do keep you occupied admittedly but the drive is worth it every time. David. Yes, do go and get an Activa but make sure it's a fundamentally sound one as a dodgy one can indeed be a heart-breaker as well as a money-pit...

Jim, you need to drive a CX GTi Turbo 2, then you would ditch the Activa!

David already had a TCT Xantia, an Activa is too much like duplication, he will be wishing the Activa to work as well as the TCT estate!!!

Yes I do. But I have non-Hydractive on 4 corners weird way it changes the whole cars responses but nice in a strange Citro way.

Interesting to see you've gone for the moded wheels, David. I've been looking down this avenue of change, as well, as I need to put on two TRX tyres on my CX and even the price I buy them for is a bit heart stopping, especially when a set of Alfa wheels and new tyres can be had for the same money!

What pattern of alloy did you buy? I have been tempted by the Teledials but the more sculptural ones, not those ones with the rounded mouldings. Somebody in the design office must have had a bad day. The ones I really wanted were the 166 ones but the PCDs different, so its not just PSA that mess up! Zender equivalents are tres, tres cher.

What rubber are you using? I've already got a set of P6000, as I've got these on one of the Activas and they do perform well.

As for ratings between CX GTi Turbos and Activas, there is no comparison as both cars fulfill completely different functions. CXs provide fast, effortless cruising, whereas Activas are difficult to beat in agility on twisty or winding roads, the converse is not true. I regularly drive both and like them for their own characteristics.

I payed £175 for all 4 with nearly new tyres, less than 1 TRX alone

I was driving my Friend's GTI Turbo 2 today. What a class car, if I could afford to fuel it, I would never be out of it!

Hi David, those alloys are Teledials, exactly the sort I am after, if I cannot get the 166 types to fit. The price you paid was very fair, especially as they had tyres on. What load and speed rating are they, 91V?

My wife always says she can tell when I've been out in either the CX or one of the Activas, as I have a great big smile on my face.

Handyman: Yes they are 91v.
I measured the tread depth after purchase, 2: 7mm 2: 6mm my previous experience of P6 on my 22TRS many moons ago was they don't last very long, soft and compliant.
I'm limited 3000 miles on the Turbo so should keep me going for a year?
