activa spheres

Unread post by holmedog »

:-D After pricing it all up i have decided to go to westroen and get all 10 spheres replaced at the same time so then i can get on with the rest of the work that needs doing. Quoted £300 for all 10 is that good, with a 3 year warranty on them.

Does anybody know the best place to get the rods and plastic bushes for the front leveling system as that will be done next along with the wishbone bushes and hand brake cables.

Then just need to save funds to do the rose bushes on the rear hydraulic rams, can't beleive how much they cost £127 [-X , when the same type of thing on a vauxhall or saab are less than half that.

Bear in mind that the warranty that Westroen offer for sphere's only applies if the diaphram ruptures, they supplied me with 10 sphere's for my Activa two of which were duff but they said the warranty didn't apply as loss of gas/pressure isn't covered.

Personally I'd go to Martin at Plieades for your sphere's.

Pleiades is in Cambrigeshire but he does a good mail order service...

Now, in my experience, normal hydractive spheres are fine; there is no need to use sphers specific to the Activa except in two position which I'll come to in a moment.

I think that unless you drive on the absolute ragged edge all the time or go by the name of the Stig then I don't reckon you'll find any difference in practice.

The two exceptions are the Activa Accumulator and the Activa Balancing sphere. the former looks like an anti-sink sphere but is pressurised to 62 bars and the latter like a normal accumulator but is pressurised to only 30 bars. Pleiades can make these up for you.

My Activa is currently running on a set of Xantia Estate hydractive corners at the rear and they're absolutely perfect...

I make my own for a tiny fraction of the cost. Details here

If you can wait for a busy period to come to an end, I could make you one if you don't have the facilities...

I don't get on well with Westoren spheres, having had two cars with recently fitted ones the pressures were all over the place!

Pleiades would be my bet, as the are very expensive from Citroen. If you can dig out someone with regassing equipment, then thats even better! So long as its current spheres meet the minimum pressure requirements and are the correct ones ...
