abs light is on - what to check

Hi The abs light is on, on my Xantia mk2. could you tell me where should I start checking? is there a procedure or "flow chart" how the check what causing it?

You could do worse than start in this thread

It details the pinouts of the wires that goto the sensors. At the moment it assumes that the light is perminently on. The fault will probably be something different if say, the ABS kicks in at low speed or the light comes on intermittently.

Hi came accross this thread when I was searching for an answer to my own question about my abs light staying on my car is also a Series 2 Xantia, unfortunatly the replies were about Series 1 Xantias so I am still in the dark

Allan, the same information should apply, the pin outs are there for both the S1 and S2.

Have you done anything recently to brakes which may affect the ABS?

Kenny, I fitted new pads & discs in the summer but I am unsure if the light came on before or after that, the other day I decided to have a look at the sensors removed the sensors from the front wheels and gave them a good clean hav,nt got to the rear brakes yet but will get to them this week
