Caching or Server issues?

Unread post by addo »

I hop onto FCF's "Index" page, and the moment I click on one of its subforums I am instantaneously logged out/in and thus all topics are considered "read"...

It's generating a bunch of cached index pages, too - often one if I'm lucky but now there are four plus the regular plain Index.

Any hints from the experts? XP w/updates, IE8, basic firewall and router

Thanks, Adam.

Experts? Here? We know our cars but IT is something we don't, at least not when at work....

I've not seen any manifestation of it here Adam. Try clearing your browser cache as a first step and then get a good browser such as Opera...

I have been using Opera here for the past few weeks and it's the only browser that gives any problems - not that they are real problems but it will dropout and say the server has blown a fuse. Backpage then try again always works but I have come across a couple of web pages it can't open.

Some pages have been quite slow to open lately but not consistently and not just with Opera.

On the subject of Opera is there any way of getting it to correctly display pages from Amazon and eBay?

Just had a peep and no problems there as far as I can see but I only use Firefox on the Linux computer to buy from either site so haven't explored them fully.

Try Google Chrome.

ETA: Opera crashed just after I posted that.

Didn't get on with Chome, it takes up a huge amount of disk space for what it is and gave no benefits over IE9.
Oh it did manage to make Yahoo think I was trying to hack into my mail account so they forced me to change my password.

No problems with Chrome, disc space not an issue, IE anything is just awful.

My experience is proving to be the converse of yours Jim.

Haven't installed it on Linux yet though.
