Irish BX Van Spotted This Evening

Unread post by Ross_K »

On my way to do my Kangoo -> Ford Focus swap this evening I stopped off at a country petrol station to stick a tenner's worth in for the new owner.

I came back out and found this parked beside me - a 1995  BX van:

I dunno if you can make it out on the second photo, but it's getting crusty where the bottom of the rear door would have been.

There is one of these that lives in Westport I think. I saw it about 3 years ago, the last time I was over there.

The BX would make a fabulous van.

Yep, they're Cork plates. 95C2435 from what I can make out.

'Citroen BX 1.9 Special' according to motorcheck.ie

I haven't seen one of these in about 10 years.

Your grandad wasn't a vet by any chance?

The gentleman driving this van was kinda, um, rural. I doubt he's ever been to a National, but you never know...

Thanks :)

Kangoo and Focus - both appliances. I couldn't sell the Kangoo, and not for the want of trying. I'll smoke around in the Focus for a week or two until I can punt it on.

Actually not bad cars at all and they drive ok. If its not rusty and not a hideous saloon then it should sell ok.

It is actually a saloon... But hey, this is bizarro world on the other side of the Irish Sea. For some reason people here seem to prefer saloons - just look at the rubbish people are buying these days: Nissan Tiida, Renault Fluence, etc etc

On the subject of the ride quality - having driven it only 50 miles I'd say it's ok, but not outstanding like the reviews of the day would have you believe.

I suppose that compared to Vauxhalls of the day it was like the difference between night and day.

The only one I have driven was a 1.4 CL hatch in white (ex-Police!), it drove ok and rode fairly well but not the car road testers would have you believe. Well not after 7 years and 130K miles anyway. Likewise Mondeos are not as good to drive as the mags would convince you of.

Good luck with the sale.

In other words thrashed flat out for 130k miles on short journeys in town including being grounded over speed humps, little wonder it didn't drive very well.
