I thought I had two Vels on camera but only the one, a 2.2DCi with steel wheels and wheel trims! We didn't get such a poverty spec in the UK. Though most cars have steel wheels here (still in France), alloys appear to be a luxury, or a inconvenience perhaps! There are many Vel Satis's about though, every engine and spec.

Image

The other Vel was a black one, looked a bit of a late model with a 3.0 V6 DCi and another I saw driving through the Village was a 3.5 V6 in a dark blue. I also saw another Avantime, a blue/green/grey one just a few cars behind the 3.5 Vel Satis.

Im not sure what engine it had, but it was a 6 speed manual. Just as I was taking that picture a woman walked over to it and got in and saying to her passenger thats our car they are looking at while smiling at me  Its not French either ...

A Vel Satis with wheel covers... fantastic! That's the base model we didn't get here (thankfully), and that one also has had non-Renault rear parking sensors fitted at some point. Great spot, I'm saving that picture, I want to bring one of those over to the UK at some point.

That Nocturne Avantime seems to also be the base model we didn't get here. No glass roof and the silver roof rail is body coloured! Doesn't look as striking.

I was filling the Avantime with "Essence" today and caught the kids in the car at the next pump taking pictures of it :D

There are a lot of base Vels around here with wheel covers, a popular choice it seems. But why do you want one in the UK? I think I might have to have a Vel Satis you know, they are getting more tempting. 8-)

That Avantime did really blend in due to its colour coding.

It'd just be nice to have the poverty spec model that never made it here. I wonder if it has wind down windows in the back....

It has nasty looking seat fabric, anyway.

Yes Chris you must get a Vel Satis! It's been too long since I've had one as well... the Avantime needs a friend. 2.0 Turbo or 3.5 V6 this time, I'm fed up of the diesels. :D

2CV6 Club on French plates. Any idea how old? The owner was pouring a bottle of additive in the tank. Lead replacement or something?

Ive seen it all now ...

A 3.5V6 Vel Satis in black with a exhaust the size of a large drainpipe and located in the centre of the car strapped under the bumper. I wondered where the boy racer car was when I first heard it, though obviously an auto going by its slured gear changes. That ought to be a crime! No pics though, I was driving.

Given that diesel is cheaper to buy at the pumps than petrol in France, just about every car is a diesel, it must make petrols quite a luxury/indulgence.

The car gets locked by the button on the fob when the driver gets out, but then if anybody tugs the handle while the car is parked, it will unlock. The car normally won't start as it can tell the key is still on the outside of the car, but most Renault's basic electric features are activated when the car is unlocked... so you can put the window down, take the key box off the door, hold it inside the car and voila!
