Replacing ram bush
Hello chaps! Hope you're all well.
A mechanic friend of mine is replacing the rear ram bush this weekend with a new one kindly donated by Jim.
He's pretty handy with Citroens - he's currently helping to restore a DS - but do you have any tips on the best way of doing it? Not sure how complex the job is, if at all!
Thanks in advance!

not at all complex!!! undo the bottom joint, swing the ram out, press the old bush out with a nut, bolt and some sockets as mandrels (or the proper tool) then grease the new bush up and slide it into the ram housing and put it back together.........................simples.

Yes, they are quite something!jwalshe wrote:So tempted by a C6, you wouldn't believe!
We were also tempted by the one you were, but decided against it. Maybe in a year or two, they will make more sense then. Still, road tax is heafty and so is servicing, tyres etc ... does the C6 justify it ... Possibly.
An XM auto might fit your bill, cheap to buy and quite cheap to run, big, comfortable and a real cruiser ... a more rare sight than a C6 too! Have you driven an XM?

I love XMs! My dad had two of them - a 1991 with a hopeless 2-litre engine and suspension that liked to urinate LHM all over the drive on frequent occasions. And then a much better 1997 CT Exclusive.
Loved them - although I always liked the first generation with the more exciting dashboard and the slimmer grille.
Although the brake pedal squelches nicely on my Activa, I miss the clicking and hissing you get with an XM. Makes the car feel like a living, breathing thing.

Didn't realise they did a V6 petrol. I was impressed with the 2.7 V6 HDi in Steve's so much that I wouldn't have minded a diesel.DickieG wrote:They are getting cheaper by the day, at present on Autotrader there's a 3.0 petrol not far from me for under £8k.Citroenmad wrote:Are you still tempted by a C6?
If a C6 can be had with the V6 sound though - this is good news...
Shame road tax will be expensive though.
I'd love one but until they get to £2k I really can't afford one, and even that is pushing it. I'm also starting to wonder if they will get that low. They seem to be acknowledged as a cracking car to those who are not blinded by sheer ignorance and think that it is useless unless it has a German badge on it. Thing is, surely there won't be enough to go round?
