TCT camshaft

Unread post by Stekelly »

Another hour or two of labour and I'll have my spare TCT engine stripped down fully and ready to be cleaned, rebuilt and sprayed. The camshaft has some small pitting and wear on it so I'm toying with the idea of replacign it should I be able to afford to.

Looking around on Cat Cams they say there are two valve lengths fitted on the TCT, is there somewhere I can check (I assume with engine number or somesuch? Or is it a case of physically meauring them? Was they changed from a certain date?

Anyone know any other places, online or otherwise I can price a new camshaft? cheers

Might start taking more pics and do a blog on the rebuild :)

I think the bathtub pistons got the bigger valve opening stroke and the flat top pistons had a flater cam profile, i THINK the later was 147bhp and the first 150bhp not sure of the changeover other than that the flat top pistons are rather rare.
I do have a tct cam if you interested from a bathtub piston engine.

That is something I would be interested in seeing.

I'd be interested in that alright Dean. What sort of money we talking? Postage for something heavy like that to here might be a bit of a killer though.

I may well be able to bring it to CXM, from there we may be able to sneak the camshaft into a certain persons car for a return trip to the Emerald Isle, maybe, i shall speak to him and find out.
