Clatter, clatter, clatter
Moderator: RichardW
Hi Guys
Thank you All for your input, MUCH appreciated, cos even though I am in the land of the Citroen, when you ask all you get is the french shrug.
I think we can discount the turbo, when I turned it, it felt OK and the fins all feel smooth, no grinding noise, and no movement on the bearing, just amazed by the amount of oil it's everywhere.
There is quiet a bit of oil around the top and back of the cam belt cover.
The clattering is in the rocker box so that will be my first job tomorrow as long as it's not raining.
Will let you know what I find

Hi Addo
I just wish I had a roof over the car.
Never done a cam belt (Timing belt) before but have got my better half helping and a great help she is too, especially getting her small hands into tight places.
Would be a lot easier if the lump was out !!!!!!!! Sh1t its tight just trying to get the covers off and the Haynes book is as good as a chocolate fire guard so I need to check over the forum for any instructions, by the way I took the OHC cover off and it all looks OK just hopeing the pistons and valves are not damaged.
will keep you informed

When I did the cambelt on my 1.9, I compiled a guide from a number of posts on the forum and edited it afterwards in the light of experience. The cambelt change section starts about half-way down the first page.
You should re-time the crankshaft properly as per the Haynes manual - search the forum for what to use as the flywheel locking pin; the pin diameter can be a bit under-size for this one, but must be fairly accurate for pump and camshaft.
Check the water pump while you're at it!
Best of luck

Bit late now Dieselman, the bloody thing is in bits!!!!!!
I started the car got out to get LHM out of boot as I got to the boot car juddered to a halt (as if something had siezed) tried to start turned over and ran for a couple of seconds very clattery and stopped with a clunk tried again did the same, took all pipes off turbo turbo feels OK turns OK and blades feel OK but I can only just get my fingers in to touch the blades, tried again but now I'm under bonnet, did the same thing again, clatter, clatter, clunk. Took OHC cover off, all looks OK and clean maybe too clean but there is oil all around (see previous posts)
That is the story so far
