What's the best oil for a 1984 Renault 11 GTL?
I'm guessing 20/50 is out of the question?

20W-50 is perfectly good and that’s what was recommended back then.
It’s actually out of the question to use a thinner oil, the engine will smoke it.
I was in Belgium with a Renault at that time and used 20W-50.
If the engine is consuming oil from worn rings or valve stem seals, 30W-40 or 30W-50 will do.
