If Brigsy's was fully warmed up then it needs a new stat - should be running at just under 90.

Must get the rear brakes sorted on mine and clean the MAF - reserve light comes on at 575-600 miles normally, slightly more if I drive it like a Vicar. I'm trying on this tank to restist the temptation to pass all the slow people on the commute, and keep the cruising speed to about 2100 rpm. See what MPG that returns. If it's little better than the 45 I normally get, then back to ragging it Tried it once in my BX TD - rag it = 45mpg, drive like a nun = 46 mpg. I went back to ragging it

Coupé driven like a nun = mid 30s
Activa driven like a nun = high 20s

Either of them driven in a rather spirited manner = low-mid teens

Interesting comments and MPG figures in this thread.

Worst for MPG was my XM LPG TCT at 15, the XM 2.5 came in at around 32. XM 2.1 Epic low 40s. Xantia HDi110 upto Glasgow with a car trailer and came back with an XM on it averaged more than 40. C5 HDi about 35. A170 CDi can do 50. Time will tell what the XM 2.1 SED will do.

My choice would be a Series 1 XM V6 24V with Prins LPG kit.

Filled up earlier in the week...light came on at 640 miles, filled at 650, took about 62 litres, so a smidge under 50MPG. This tank, I have tightened my dog collar to papal standards, and put on my hair shirt, limit the revs to 2k cruising. See what MPG that returns - if I don't die of boredom before I get to fill up time

Ok, how the hell do you get 25mpg from an Activa?
Doing 56mph for an entire tank only got me 20mpg!

How did you manage 20MPG from an Activa doing 56MPH? Are your injectors bucket size?

Down to the DSM this weekend mine has done 490 miles at 31MPG, which is about £100 in fuel. My trip down was mainly cruising at some speed but on my return trip I stuck to 70-80.

Now, considering a 2.7HDi C6 does similar-ish but on more expensive diesel, its not too out of the scheme of things.

I like the 2.0T CT more the more I drive it, certainly not the engine I was expecting when hearing a few peoples comments. Its very diesel like with its low down pull and high torque at motorway pace, something I like about my 16v HDi. Its the main reasons I don't get along with most petrols, as they are gutless low down, not so the TCT though. Or at least when their boost has been increased ...

Of course my C5 would have been 50+ MPG, however

It has to have been due to the exhaust manifold going/gone, that's all I can think of.
We'll see how much of an improvemnt it's made once we've got her back on the road.
I agree with you on the TCT's diesel like behaviour, it's lovely, and the only thing going against it is the lack of diesel like fuel consumption.

You must have a fuel leak or leave it idling for long periods to get the consumption down that low. With ECU controlled engines its quite difficult to get consumption that high unless there is something very obvious such as a bad misfire. Unless you were giving it a damn good

Yep, pottering about town or local journeys in the Activa makes it juicy. I was pottering about town in it last week, it was very hot so I had the AC on and it did use a lot of fuel. On a long run its easily bearable - the economy, the engines/cars are a joy to drive if they are going right.

I like making use of its performance and don't find the fuel economy too excessive even then. I do try my best to keep out of it but its difficult, im getting on for 2000 miles with it and ive only had it a few months and still have the C5 as my main car. Still, its a car and not an ornament

Couldn't afford to give it a thrashing Richard, not with how much fuel it was using
Made things really expensive when Cassy was off the road last time, what with regularly driving to Cambridge.
Teh_Agent used to report with his TCT 406 that he'd always get 30mpg no matter how he drove but he had some black box under the passenger dash.

A black box?! What would be in this? Presumably not a hamster

I have not idea how a black box of any description would improve MPG, possibly if it gives it more performance/torque then the engine will need to be worked less and the economy improved when the extra 'go' is not used.
