A Rumbling From The Back Wheel,,,,

Unread post by Meganic »

As speed picks up.
It appears to be from the back and there's no slack in the bearing.
Has anyone had this problem with a Megane at all who could maybe enlighten me to what the problem may be?
Cheers in advance for your help :)

You don't need slack in a bearing for it to be worn out.

Check that you've not got the garden roller hooked on to the towbar

Usually a worn wheel bearing will make more noise when cornering one way and less conering the other.

If you jack up each back wheel and spin them by hand you'll probably feel/hear a roughness on one of them, that's normally how a garage would check. If it's at the stage of you being scared to use it you'll probably feel it quite easily.

Did that and heard roughness in the wheel. I still can't seem to feel anything different with it, just hear,,,
Could low brakes cause a noise?
I think what's best is to just take it off and see what I find,,
Cheers again :)

If one wheel sounds rougher than the other the chances are that's your worn bearing.
