An elderly driver was said to be shaken but unhurt after reversing her car over another vehicle in a freak accident in a Norfolk car park.

So, does having a Megane as a bonnet ornament improve the looks of the Saab?

Gosh!

She must have been stepping on the gas a bit to do that...

The Megane was an automatic. Knowing that it makes a bit more sense now.

I have accidentally selected R when I meant D and unexpectedly shot backwards at a rate of knots. What's really worrying is I've done it twice now. Once a small post suffered a small bruise but the second time, no harm done...

Luckily the Saab is a bit wedge like otherwise there might have been some damage done to the Megane

That really does make a case for the reverse 'bong' on S1 C5s

Do you think it (a bong) would calm her nerves?

Personally I don't reckon cannabis and driving mix at all.

You do have a point, but I find it quite a handy feature.

Sadly the C5II misses out on this bong

My mum has recently converted to automatic and I've seen her do this outside the house a few times!

Needless to say all Saabs and Méganes will be kept well away from her Scénic

i spoz i should admitt to a fopar with my old 2.5 TRI AUTO CX safari,

whilst in my previous workshop i was trying to track a fuel leak,

engine running, bonnet up, drivers door open, me at the front under bonnet convinced i had selected park,

blipped the throtle she shot backwards bending the drivers door completle back on its self

,

luky it did no damage to the door plilar and i manage to re/form the door so it would shut,

Interesting way to lower a Saab!

Maybe a dashboard display on all automatics would help the driver, where as they select, they watch what they select, instead of moving the lever without looking, which is a common mistake.

Later cars would project this in a head up display on the windscreen.

It was the American market that brought the interlock idea about, where you press the brake pedal to release it from park, apparently many more accidents were happening there because, of the greater amounts of automatic vehicles, along with those unable to work out the safe way to use them.

Although maybe this should be changed now to a set up like on the computer with the prompt screens that pop up.

......What are you doing think about it, and don't be a muppet?

Although if you have a passenger (missus or know it all child) in the car they can do the above automatically!
