citroen synergie/evasion

hi all, newbie- first post.
question about a synergie 1.8i petrol 8 valve
engine LFW XU7JP/L3.
its a fantastic tool however engine has reached a 254,000 klms

mainly due to my wifes easy driving style and advanced
driving techniques !!!!!!!

bearing in mind its been well used for nearly 8 years 4 kids= daily abuse !
head gasket has let go and would like to replace engine.

i have enquired on 2 other forums and general response is replace
with same engine ,good advice ,but i cant find the same engine or if i can
its 100k miles plus.
i know synergie also use 2.0 ltr engine if i use this engine do i need to replace the ecu ?
i feel i must ask before i start this project as there must be someone out there ,who has already done this or has the information to assist a smooth straight forward job.
at this stage would consider a diesel replacement would make a good summer project + more mies per gallon !
anyways any advice is appreciated .
where can i find citroen engine wiring loom diagrams ?
i bought pocket mechanic manual to read up on some detailed info
my advice to anybody thinking of bying one ,dont save your money !

I would expect both the Xantia 1.8 and the 406 1.8 are this unit.

, 406's pre 99 anyway.

Is it a 16v or 8v ? , if its the 8v unit you will need to find an older Xantia (I think) or a 405. 406's are 16v apart from the 2.0 turbo unit.

hi
located in france ,vendee .
have taken the car off road so theres no pressure
in finding a donor/solution to engine replacement .
want to repair car as its a real handy tool .
do you have an idea / engine for sale
