GSF Problems

Unread post by vanny »

When did GSF change numbers?
Apparently they have changed from 01189513513 to 02089173970 and now they dnt answer the phone! I know its a bank holidy but id still expect at least a pre recorded message! Some of us dont have the luxury of getting a day off :(

Hi Vanny.
The change of number is because the Reading branch has closed and all the calls now go to GSF at Heathrow. Have you used the Manchester Trafford Park branch? I've been and they are ok. Your not too far away so you may save a bit on postage.

But why oh why oh why didnt they just setup call forwarding, or even transfer the number. Not the worlds hugest expence, and since i had memorized the GSF phone number . . .
Been to the liverpool branch, never never again! I get the feeling i might have been the first customer to ever ask for French parts! Shame i dont have an air cooled VW cos they really know there stuff!
Manchester Trafford Park is a bit of a problem since i dont have a running car and it would take about 30 busses to get there :(
(PS just noticed, Landie 90! Would rather the 110, but they are so much fun to work on! My mate shas had to buy an 1" socket set to change the wheels [:D])

I've had that "german" feeling too - as with most merged companies there's a certain amount of "history" in their makeup. The more you ask, and the longer they're selling the French parts, the better they tend to get.

FWIW I have bought some Citroen parts from GSF through their on-line shop recently and the service has been excellent. Also they answered my queries by email very promptly. The parts arrived in 8 days to my door in New Zealand and it saved me some money on what I could get them for here.

GSF Liverpool used to be E.B Jones's - a well respected VAG parts dealer (I presume GSF took them over), and if you go in and ask for anything VW or Audi then they're spot on. I had a bit of trouble getting the correct glow plugs for a TD Xantia, but if you give them the number off the website they're fine and get the stuff quickly enough.
GSF Manchester seem to carry stock of most of the common French stuff but again the lads in there seem more clued up about German stuff than French but they're pleasant enough and will try to find what you're after.
