306 HDi Relays & Wiring Diagram

Unread post by DHallworth »

Hey Guys,

Does anyone have a location diagram that shows the location of each component for the injection system on the 306?

The HDi wiring diagram shows relay 1304 which I'm pretty sure is the brown relay behind the ECU.

The other relay I need to know what it is and where it is is labelled 1203.

Our 306 won't start as it's got a broken wire that runs between relay 1304 and 1203, a broken wire that runs between relay 1203 and the ECU and a broken wire between 1304 and the ECU.

Thanks in advance guys.

David.

Don't know if this helps. The only relay connected to the brown relay appears to be the engine coolant heater relay, through fuse 33.

Your right 1304 is the double injection relay but 1203 is the inertia switch not a relay.

I would start by removing ecu plug which has 88 female terminals on plug
at key on must have 12v's at terminals 1 & 29 via 15 pin relay if no volts
at 1 or 29 earth terminal 86 on ecu volts should registar at this point if not suspect 15 pin relay. At terminal 69 should have at key on 12v's. It's vital
you have at key on 12'v's at terminals 1-29-69. ecu earth terminals on ecu plug 33-49 -51 53 best checked from ecu pin no's to batt neg terminal
ohms reading reading should not exceed 0.2 ohms Hth Regards Mickeybo

Well we've fixed the wiring problem.

We bought an accident damaged 306 HDi identical to this one, unplugged the engine wiring loom and swapped it onto our car.

I'm now getting communication with the engine management ECU.

Problem now is the BSI isn't recognising the key.

I've changed the ECU, the transponder reader on the steering column, and the BITRON box under the dashboard.

When I try and reprogram the key the Peugeot Planet is asking for a 4 digit access code so I need to try and work out what that is.

Need to grab the key code for both cars too.

Unless I'm mistaken, that 4 digit access code IS the key code.

Ahh!

On the Lexia Application to get into the C5 there's that code 03115 or something like that.

I wondered if it was something similar.

That's great then, need to see if I can get the codes now without having to pay Peugeot £20 each!

Thanks Toby!

What BITRON box are you talking about ?
Are all the parts you have changed a matched set from the other car ? You wont be able to code your original keys to a different ECU/BSI.

The Bitron box has 2 plugs going into it. One of them is yellow. The Peugeot Planet refers to it as the BSI.

It's either got BITRON or TEXRON written on it. It loves above the ashtray in a big black box. With the lid off the box there's an antenna on it.

When I scan it now with peugeot planet the only error message I get states that it's not recognising the key. The Planet software suggests reprogramming the key to the car with the Lexia.

I've got the key from the breaker which goes with all of the other components so will try this in the morning now I've got the key codes for both cars.

Well I've just had it on Peugeot Planet...

I've reprogrammed the key from the breaker so it's recognising that and I've also reprogrammed the key from the old ECU and it's now recognising that too.

Peugeot Planet reported that both are now working perfectly, locking and unlocking the car as well as turning on and off the immobiliser with the transponder in the key.

I've cleared the fault codes from the BSI and tried to start the car.

For some reason the car is spinning over no problem at all but isn't even showing the slightest inclination to fire.

This time though it's not logging any fault codes anywhere.

It will say TEXTON on it then, This is the CPH unit. This car does not have a BSI then & is not multiplexed. Wasnt sure if the 306 ever came multiplexed with a BSI.
So just to confirm, from the donor car you have replaced the injetion ECU, the texton CPH unit behind the dash, the transponder reciever aerial around the ignition barrel, the engine wiring harness & reprogramed the keys to the car ? Can you confirm that the imobiliser key light comes on for a second or 2 when you turn the ignition on then goes back off ?
Can you hear the fuel pump in the tank prime when the ignition is turned on ?
Next thing you need to look at is live data in planet when the engine is cranking over. We need to see engine RPM (should be around 250-300 rpm), we need to see fuel rail pressure (should be at least 120 bar when cranking) & the cam/crank syncronisation should be at YES when the engine is cranking.
Have you tried to see if it will fire on a sniff of easy start ?

Thanks for your help Wheeler. I appreciate it.

The answers to your questions:

So just to confirm, from the donor car you have replaced the injetion ECU, the texton CPH unit behind the dash, the transponder reciever aerial around the ignition barrel, the engine wiring harness & reprogramed the keys to the car ?

Correct.

Can you confirm that the imobiliser key light comes on for a second or 2 when you turn the ignition on then goes back off ?

There isn't an immobiliser light on the dash on the 306 but Planet says that both keys are working as they should.

Can you hear the fuel pump in the tank prime when the ignition is turned on ?

Fuel pump is priming and filling the filter.

We need to see engine RPM (should be around 250-300 rpm)

Cranking speed was 295rpm when I checked last night.

we need to see fuel rail pressure (should be at least 120 bar when cranking)

I'm leaning towards thinking this might be the problem as I was only getting around 65 bar of pressure when cranking. The High Pressure pump was changed last week as this was suspect for it not starting so it looks like the one fitted might be duff. Will get it swapped back again this evening.

the cam/crank syncronisation should be at YES when the engine is cranking.

This was a "Yes" on Planet last night.

Have you tried to see if it will fire on a sniff of easy start ?

Haven't tried easy start.

I can't wait till this is running again, finishing work at 10pm and being in the workshop till 2am is getting tiresome!

I think this is most likeley the problem then, the ECU needs to see at least 120 bar before it will even think about firing the injectors.
The HP pump is no the only thing that could cause this, faulty injector(s) can cause lack of pressure in the fuel rail, a leak off test would show if the injector(s) are knackered. If you have the injectors off the donor car i'd look at swaping them over first before taking the HP pump back off as it's a lot less hassle to swap the injectors than the HP pump.

Hi Wheeler,

I found a union that had been slackened on the number one injector... presumably by my brother.

I tightened this, mopped up the diesel that was sitting on the head, tried to start it and the car fired straight away.

Thanks for your help though. I really do appreciate it.
