Please help

Went in for replacement windscreen yesterday, since picking car up, I've noticed wipers are defaulting to about 4 seconds on the Auto setting.

Tried pressing hard against screen, no joy, held against mirror and all worked well...

Ideas?

forgot to add, the new screen has a tint band that is just fading out thru the sensor area.

Have also tried a spare known good sensor to see if that was maybe at fault.

Wrong windscreen fitted? There should be no tint in the sensor area.

That was my initial thought but they're swearing that its not going to make a difference... Clearly (rain sensor doesn't think so) it is tripping it up somehow tho!

maybe get a LEXIA shuved up it

to see if it will tell you what it thinks is happening

Does the Lexia have the ability to check that on a Xantia?

I don't think it does.... (prepares to be corrected though)

the wipers going to intermittent means the sensor cannot "see" the light being reflected back. i can confirm 100% that on my auto wipers the area for the sensor is 100% clear

Since when do "professionals" know anything about Xantia windscreens?
Thinking of the number of times I've had to remind them to bond the scuttle panel down for instance (with one guy insisting that it didn't need it on Xantias, until he saw the look on my face and remembered that it does).

im not 100% sure if the LEXIA can check wwhow much th sensor is sencing,

but it might show something up

HA! After a "nice" phone call to the insurance and glass companies involving a certain someone gnashing their fangs

, they have agreed to replace my new screen with another genuine one

. This is after the glass company supplied me a nice new sensor - they claimed my old one must've been faulty and if that were the case, I'd have to pay for the new sensor!!! Well, guess what... Same problem haha.

So... Off to stealership next week for the proper article.

It needs bonding above the air intake to prevent water running down the screen from running under the panel and straight into the air intake and thence straibght under the passenger footwell carpet...

There is a special deflector above the air intake on the trim panel but this is ineffective unless the panel is fully sealed against the screen.

The only part that needs to be well sealed is from the passenger side edge across to the middle.

The lump of mastic under the panel by the top tip of the wing is also vital to channel water running down the rain gutter away from the air intake too...
