I think Rob's comment/question is quite valid, why break up a car when it could be sold and the funds used to buy an engine?

It looks VERY tired although I had pondered the shell being worth around £150
with the clocks, box and engine gutted. Shame but really the ones offered on
Leboncoin beckon...

How weird! Not just the turkey selling the car but all the adverse comments. And all for free to keep us amused. Looks like some internal head issues going on here.

Just as an aside and not to add to the argument, I am intrigued as to how he will get a GS engine rated for flying. His flying examiner will not be the engineer signing off the engine. Just a very basic requirement for approval will be a new, crack-tested crank/rod assembly, as the engine type is not approved. Wonder who has these available and how much?

I was just using Leboncoin ads to illustrate complete running and with legal
paperwork G's are available from the original auction's start price of £350
and miles within the frankly ridiculous £1130 start price now. This man is off
his head; I said earlier here, £150 would be a struggle for the shell, never
mind adding another grand onto it!! Dear me.

Just looking at the pictures; the rear wing is scarred and rotting and the door
bottoms don't look sound either and one can only guess at the inner rear
arches, sills and undertray even accepting it's had a recent MOT. The French
alternatives are a no brainer and the collection would be a fab holiday outing
too - been there done that!!

It's his car so he can chose what he does with it but I fear a now rare car
will be gutted to serve no further purpose with a project that ultimately may
never get off the ground! Even broken up it will all be to waste as the value
he appears to be working with is certainly miles out there in
the stratosphere...

Trouble is that is a RHD model and therefore it is more desirable over here than an imported LHD car. However you can usually find more sound examples in LHD as they dont often show the rust that UK cars do. A cars rarety appeals to me, a RHD is much more rare than a LHD GS, it should be saved.

I think its madness to break a perfectly good and road going car just so the engine can be used in a tiny plane, that is if it can be at all given what has been said above. This is no better than the Puggsters breaking Activas for their engines.

For a GS estate its condition doesnt look too bad, tired yes but not too bad.

Come off it Chris, you'd never entertain £1130 for an incomplete bodyshell,
(RHD/LHD whatever) when it looks very much like a potential money pit
and/or labour of love.

FFS, the guy doesn't have a clue; the long waffle doesn't even give
the registration age or running gear's mileage of the car or what
engine/gearbox it should be running if someone did fancy actually
sourcing a replacement. Nothing wrong with LHD either - thought
you'd know that or will ONLY RHD do?

Quite frankly, whilst he comes across as a demonstrably articulate clever
chap there seems little grasp of common sense or reality and maybe he
should realise he's being a tad deluded?

I don't think the start price is relevant after reading his description. IMO, he's just after the publicity and attention in the vain hope someone will make an offer he can't refuse.

Though I can't reconcile what he means where he's added that if the buyer should want to later sell it again, to give him first refusal? Does he consider himself a wheeler/dealer able to buy cheap and sell dear? With just one old feedback rating, I smell a rat nonetheless.

He's not a million miles away from me so if anyone is genuinely interested in it, I'd be happy to go investigate.

I didn't refer to the starting price, only that a RHD is more desirable here than a LHD car, desirable doesnt always mean worth more ... though it usually does, as RHD cars were built in fewer numbers. I know a lot of very desirable RHD Citroen models have been bought and shipped to Australia.

I agree, its an unreachable starting price for a rolling shell, I can't see why the drivetrain should be removed, crazy idea.

I would have a LHD car but would always prefer a RHD. I wouldn't like to have a LHD car as a daily driver.

Its a RHD GS estate, which is rare, it shouldn't be broken, especially when its obviously passed an MOT within the last year.

I saw this advert too and it made me feel (irrationally???) sick...

Having now read his responses to perfectly valid questions, they seem like long aimless rambles to me. I remember someone saying that when someone uses a Nazi reference in an argument that you know the argument is over cos they've exhausted their supply of rational arguments.... (i.e. can you really equate ANYTHING to those horrors? Certainly NOT the perfectly reasonable comments of Rob on ebay.... just plain bizarre

)

Why is he surprised that noone wanted to buy the complete car when he advertised it? If memory serves me right he put it up at something like £4k!!!

As for using the engine..... I've got one he can have for £1,299

its a bit like the guy trying to sell that wrighten off dersh (2CV) for £1250 quid on ebay, and he seems to have a similar atitude,

i recon he will end up sticking a curb stone cutter throug that G out of spite
