I don't hate them, I quite like them.

However, on a hot day, Air Conditioning it has to be!

I've put yes as I do like sunroofs, brings a lot more light into the car and gets rid of heat quicker. Trouble is, I'd like both but if I had to choose it would have to be air con for those days where you really can't hack the heat along with the times the inside of the windows steam up and they need demisting quickly.

I'm probably a nominee for the "Al Gore Global Warmer of the Week Award" for occasionally driving cars with sunroof cracked open and the AC on.

The dark grey dash on a Xantia - here, at least - pumps out a lot of heat that came through the windscreen, in summer.

It's just a trouble point waiting to bite you on the arse.

AND you have to pay extra!!!!

I was wondering how you manage Adam - no idea whereabouts you're located
but I'd guess when it's not flooding or burning, it's quite warm where you are?

The only regular maintenance/upkeep a sunroof needs is whether the blind
is open or not and whether it needs to be tilted up or fully wound open and
there's NO hassles compared to the faff and constant upkeep/cost AND
ADDITIONAL ENGINE BAY COMPLEXITY of the AC. Seem to recall someone
desperate to find some curly pipe bits to get their AC v6 patched up again?

I realise there's the older generation of cars like the Cx which use the
'funny gass' that's now illegal which kills Polar Bears or something, melting
all the ice caps and ending whole swthes of endangered species etc so a
whole new set of kit is required or the old stuff is thrown away?

My whole feeling on sunroofs is positive right up until an Xm is mentioned
where it's never used by the PO roof is seized/stripped of it's thread and it
remains mute as literally a sunroof - something in the roof sunlight shines
through and a PITA to fix.

I could play my 'Joker' and say I don't mind both on some of the cars I have.

roll yur eyes as much as you like but I broke the pipe while sorting my strut feed pipes.. When an a/c system is used to its full potential and thats NOT just a summer cooler they can give long continued service.... They do dehumidify the car too.. Steam yur windows up with chips on a wet night or full of gassing people then switch the a/c on and blower and see how damm quicker then a slow blower clears ALL yur windows. Not just the windscreen... Side windows in all in seconds!

I also think the xantia A/c coolant pipe work its an extreamilly neat layout.. All over the the left to rear of the engine bay... Very neat.. Its the xm setup thats messy and lies over the gearbox etc...

I will roll my eyes!

That's my point exactly Paul, unwanted additional complexity that you'll
need to find workarounds for - and are you going to tell me you get the gas
professionally removed at £$ cost first when you need to split the circuit when
an engine needs to come out for a clutch etc?

Or do you work on the engine with the damned pump, evaporator and
exchanger in the bloody way stringed up as best as possible?
A bloody nuisance I don't see a sunroof causing...
