Just think about the grunt you're missing out on and constantly having to select 1st when moving along at slow speeds due to turbo lag, it drives me around the twist when I drive my VSX.

No idea what you're talking about Richard, none of my 1.9TDs have had problems moving slowly in 2nd, I sometimes even forget I'm in second and am able to pull away in it, similarly having driven my parents' 90bhp HDIs they've got less grunt than my old 205, more on a par with the 2.1 I sold to Jim, you know, foot down and start to yawn.
Cassy pulls all the way up to the red line.

Dawn's Picasso 2.0 HDi 90 felt quite flat compared with a XUD TD but that was because it lacked the lag followed by the turbo coming onto boost that a TD has which gives the impression of a TD being quicker than they really are, I'm pretty sure that 0-60 + in-gear times would be the same for a 90 HDi and XUD TD. A 110 HDi by comparison is noticeably quicker off the mark as if its naturally aspirated especially around 1,000 rpm, the 2.1's and 110 HDi's also have longer gearing due to much greater available torque range so less gear changing required as they don't run out of puff so quickly. I've had quite a few Xantia TD's including two from brand new and a couple that have done 150k miles and now a couple of HDi 110's so I have plenty of experience with them. I'll have to dig out my old brochures to see what Citroen had to say about performance times.

My only regret with my VSX is with its engine, at the time I bought it in 1997 it appeared to be a decent engine but its now very old hat and annoyingly sluggish when compared with an 110 HDi, quite a few times now I've considered transplanting in an HDi 110 but with its age and condition it would lose its originality. I have considered offering it for sale a few times due to how much the engine annoys me but have then suffered an ear bending from Dawn when I mentioned my plans

Getting back to the original subject I filled up today paying 138.9 for diesel, the bill was £90.79  ouch!
