ZX 1.4i temperature

Hi all,
I've got a 1998 zx 1.4 that I suspect is running rather hot.
I've fitted a new temp sender for the guage and tested the thermostat which operates normally. The guage suggests that the fan comes on at about 105 degC(3/4) when idleing in traffic and it never boils. Sitting at a steady 50 in top the guage shows just over 90 but rises to just short of 105 when at 80ish. Past experience of other cars suggests that the engine should not be running at or close to the temp that the fan cuts in at, while sitting on the motorway.
Is this normal ??!!

my 95 zx 1.4i is exactly the same. Changed the temp gauge sender on mine, it made no difference. ive tended not to worry unless it goes in the red. Garage said there's no problem

My '97 1.4i does exactly as you describe, I have had her 3 years now and have stopped worrying as long as the gauge follows its "normal" pattern [:)]
